AQA GCSE Chemistry (Code AQA 8462)

The course is studied over three years and is assessed terminally in two written examinations at the end of year 11. There is no coursework.

This course prepares students well to take their place as scientifically literate member of society as well as for further study of Chemistry at A level.

In year 9 boys receive 3 periods of teaching per week (two lessons). In years 10 and 11 they receive 5 periods of teaching per week (three lessons). Homework is set in accordance with the homework timetable.

It is important that boys consolidate topics well and prepare for end of topic tests and their prelims carefully so that they build a strong foundation to progress through the GCSE course. The students are provided with suggestions for revision along with tick lists at the end of each topic.
