Admissions Overview

Bishop Wordsworth’s School is a Selective Grammar School for boys in Year 7 to 11 and boys & girls in the Sixth Form. The School has responsibility for setting its own testing and admission requirements. Parents of pupils from any area within reasonable travelling distance of the School may apply for admission to the School.

There are different stages at which boys can join Bishop Wordsworth’s School. Please click on the link that applies to you:

11+ Entry is for boys who are in year 6 of primary school during the academic year 2020-2021 and who are hoping to join the School in September 2021. Please click here  for the 11+ Application page.

Post 11+ Entry is for boys aged between 11 and 16 who are currently at another secondary school (or who are home schooled) and who wish to join the School.  Click here for the Post 11+ entry page.

Sixth Form Entry is for pupils aged between 16 and 18 who are choosing a sixth form centre at which to continue their secondary education in September 2020. Financial Hardship information is for parents who would otherwise wish for their son (or daughter for the Sixth Form) to apply to Bishop Wordsworth’s School but are concerned about costs of daily travel, uniform and educational trips.  To assist, there are some  specific charitable funds available.  These funds are available to assist from early help, such as attending open days from primary school, through to trips in support of A level studies.  Please see our  Financial Assistance  page for further information.

The Admissions Policy is below.  Other information on this admission section of the website is intended to clarify but the Admission Policy is the authority for admissions if there is any discrepancy.
